To The Virgins...

To The Virgins, To Make Much of Time

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he’s a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he’s to setting.

That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may, go marry;
For having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry.

Robert Herrick

Loveliest of Trees, The Cherry Now

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
is hung with bloom along the bough,
and stands about the woodland ride
wearing white for Eastertide.

Now, of my threescore years and ten,
twenty will not come again,
and take from seventy springs a score,
it only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom
fifty springs are little room,
about the woodlands I will go
to see the cherry hung with snow.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter

Spring is finally on its way
I don’t need to say that it’s okay,
it simply means that winter’s death
is what we all will speak of next,
and the fact that summer’s nigh.

It’s only a short period of time
this sweltering, ovenly clime,
it soon will all disappear
seemingly like for another year,
and we’ll wish it goodbye with a sigh.

Oh, what would I not give
In exchange for this life I live,
Not that I would ever complain;
Hey, I have more sunny days than rain.
You won’t ever see me cry.

The other man’s grass isn’t always
green, some are brown, I know, I’ve seen.
So, I’ll add some soil, and even water,
Sometimes I’ll smile, maybe a lot of laughter
Until, finally, at the end I’ll die.

The Month for Good Sex

Well, April is here so I'm about to find out if I can follow thru to the end with anything.

This could be the month for great sex, but then, any month is the month for great sex! What we do know is that April is poetry month.

It's not only poetry month but also the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare.

Don't let it bother you if you have no comments; it won't bother me. I didn't do so well last year but I owe it to myself to try this year.

The idea is to post a poem each day, whether my own creation or someone elses.

April is the month chosen for all those who considers themselves "Poets" to try to encourage and expose others to the pleasure of poetry.

So this is really for me and anyone who will allow themselves to experience the joy of verbal creativity (I could have just said poetry but I'm trying to get all intellectual on you).

I'm so sick sometimes.

So this will be my contribution.

The Two Sides of Masturbation

I haven't masturbated in years!

Me and my wife were about to put some work in this morning when the phone rang. You always see this happen in movies and one of them says: "Don't answer it. Let it go to voice-mail."

I forgot about that, this morning.

So she answered and it was her job asking her to come in early.

Well, after she left I was still feeling encouraged, so, I proceeded to take matters into my own hand.

Damn! I'd forgotten how good this feels, all that weight in my hands; all that good spurting. Man, that was great.

Then it wasn't so great anymore.

I suddenly experienced the guilt that caused me to stop masturbating in the first place.

Yeah, I know it's crazy, but I was always like that; from the first time I started masturbating.

The Music I Love

When it comes to music one thing is guaranteed: If it’s different it will probably be added to my collection.

Items such as Chaka Khan: Epiphany, Jimi Hendrix Blues, Mark Knoffler (Dire Straits)/Alison Krauss: All The Road Running, and David Byrne (Talking Heads): The Soul of Black Peru are genre-defying gems which I had to scoop up as soon as I heard of them. Once I listened to them it was as if I had struck gold.

There was never anything to regret.

Now I have two such great stuff to look forward to: Miles Davis: 'Miles at the Fillmore', and a new tribute album to Ronnie James Dio (benefiting the Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund) featuring Metallica, Motorhead, Scorpions, Anthrax, Judas Priest,Slipknot, and Tenacious D among others.

Miles Davis: “Miles at the Fillmore: The Bootleg Series Vol. 3 was being released today (3/25/14), and

Ronnie James Dio Tribute Album 'This Is Your Life' will be released on April, 1.

Being Disturbed Just As...

Whenever I have no ideas I tend not to write (or that should be, "Whenever I have no ideas worth writing"), and after several days of no ideas I start to think why bother; hence the disappearances!

I think I start to lose interest, but since I do love the communication, I usually come back. Then I last for a while.

Maybe now that I have something I'll get a more continuous stream of worthy (and wordy) thoughts.

This morning I had my wife right where I wanted her! There was no getting off that peak without my say-so. And just as I'm about to tip her over, our little 2 year-old, who has been staying with us since Saturday, came knocking on the door.

She wasn't going to go away just because we didn't respond; and it would be mean to tell her to go away. So we had to throw some stuff on hurriedly and let her in.

Just my luck! I owe her for that.

I think her mother set her up to do that, just because she wasn't having any fun!

On another bad note (maybe I should have mentioned this first) last night/this morning I was dreaming that I was about to bang Katherine Heigl (don't know if we were together in a movie or if we were actually dating) and just as we started I woke up.

So that's double disappointment. Anyway, I heard she's hard to please! Me, I was just 'hard!'

I'm sure all have seen this but I still got to do it!

New stamp featuring JImi Hendrix hit the streets yesterday.

I'm sure I'll have a set as a souvenir to add to my collection.

I'm not a stamp collector but, since the early 90's (when they opened this little specialty Post Office on Main Street in White Plains, N.Y.), I've been collecting these squares of stamps featuring the Rain Forest, Dinosaurs, birds of the USA, old singers, jazz men etc.

I actually bought them to use them but I couldn't, so they've just been sitting there still in their plastic covering.

So I guess I'll end up buying two sets, 1 to use and one for posterity!

It's A Woman's World...

"Why can't a woman take after a man?
Men are so pleasant, so easy to please;
Wherever you're with them, you're always at ease...
One man in a million may shout a bit.
Now and then there's one with slight defects;
One, perhaps, whose truthfulness you doubt a bit.
But by and large we are a marvelous sex!
Why can't a woman take after man?"

From "My Fair Lady" by Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner

One of my co-workers was giving me lip today about my observations of "shapes and sizes."

Some women seem to think that once you're married it's time to wear blindfolds.

Everybody knows we are almost all blessed with 5 senses. Everybody knows, in most cases, when one sense gets disabled the others improve to pick up the slack.

Married men lose their sense of Touch, and Taste. It's not a good look to go around smelling women, and they aren't saying anything that we want to hear ("No, you're married", "I don't date married men!" "Ugh! You're creepy") so we're not listening.

I could go on but you get the drift!

But our sense of sight, yes, that's operating magnificently. You know the saying: "Use it or lose it!"

So I put that to good use, now that my other 4 senses can't do anything for me. I see all the beauties that go floating by, and I'm appreciative enough to truly enjoy the sight!

If God is indeed a woman , like some claim, then it's a mighty funny joke being played on us fellows, putting all this beauty in front of us (her wonders to behold) and then having women cursing us and abusing us for having the balls to look!

One of my wife’s friends gave me a plant for my birthday last year, a Kalanchoe.

I was into plants when I was younger, and did have a ‘green thumb’ (yea, that’s me: Jack of all trades and, seriously, master of none! But I’m usually good at everything I attempt).

Anyway, nobody knew of my prior dabbling in “plantology” (don’t go looking it up; I just made that up!) so my wife thought she would be the one who had to help it survive. So, imagine her surprise when she noticed that I was the one doing all the work.

Not only that, I ended up buying 5 more plants.

Of course, they are stuff I know nothing about so I have to keep jumping on the computer to find out how to care for them. Since I don't know the names I have to be looking at hundreds of images to identify what I have. So far, so good!

Now if this works, as soon as we buy our home you know I’m good to go. I’ve already scouted out my new additions.

If you knew me all of this would be a major surprise to you. But then, I was an athlete when nerds didn’t get involved with sports (except maybe cheer-leading ) so, no surprise to me!

Who's Responsible?

I didn't read the full story, but did anyone see the one where the girl, after moving out of her parents home, is now suing them to pay her college tuition?

I always told my : "Hey, as long as you're going to school (high or college) I'm responsible for your well-being. As your parent I have to pay for that. I gladly will!"

"But if you choose not to go to college then you have to find a job, because my responsibility ends at that point."

I was a single parent from when he was 5 or 6, during which time I worked two jobs while going to college. I didn't think it was right after finishing high school, for him not to go to college.

But if he chose not to go, then it wasn't right that I should continue to work 2 jobs while he sat at home.

Because this girl moved out from home, I'm kind of unsure which side I should be sympathetic to, in this case.

I want to think, as parents, they're responsible. However, she did move out... which means she thinks she's responsible for her own well-being, which should cover her college education1

Isn't she expecting to "have her cake and eat it too?"

HNW - Aquamarine (with my twist...)

Does this count?

Home alone watching Crosby, Stills, and Nash on PBS, so, figure I would add this...

Lacy lilting lady, losing love lamenting,
Change my life, make it right,
Be my lady...
