Handling Cat fishing ie Fakes

It seems that every dating site has more than their share of fakes/scammers doing what they call “cat fishing” though I’m not sure how that term was coined. They are usually allegedly young women or men between 19 and 38 though some pretend to be much older. I saw one that claimed to be 70 but the photo was of a young lady of around 18 or 19 and the claim was that she was a widow, lol Some are easy to spot right off but many are not. But the greeting is almost a carbon copy of the rest of them But after only a couple messages they want you to email them or set up texting. They will give you a number to text and if you call that number you will find that it’s a text only exchange. These crooks may be male or female and they often swap their profiles back and forth to male or female and also have multiple profiles. Many are new profiles but some have been in the dating sites for several months Two of these I was contacted by in this site were gold members. I got tired of deleting them, and they may have even been the same crook using different profiles and approaches, so I have decided to save their email address and phone number and give those out to the next scammer in lieu of my own. In that way they can waste each other’s time instead of mine 😈🤣

Sounds like a plan. 👍
Although I just ignore them, I mean... who's got THAT much time? Happy hunting. ❗🍷🍷

Just a heads up on how this whole 'blog thing' here is structured...

Once you've posted your blog, put a 'comment' in the comments section. The A F F algorithm will click in and feature your blog on the main page.
You'll get more readership and a greater response.
Cheers. 🍷 🍷 😎

They (scammers in general) are on every dating site out there, and some even have infiltrated onto the Book of Faces. No place is sacred anymore. But they are easier to spot once you see the same tactics, though some are more clever in their operations.

There's a movie called "Catfish" that was released some time ago, about a guy's real life scenario with meeting a woman online, who turned out to not be whom she claimed once they actually met face to face. The movie had a good draw and reviews that the guy went on to create his own reality tv show by the same name (Catfish) on MTV.

Towards the end of the movie, there's a brief explanation of what the term 'catfish' means and how it came about. It's a term used by fishermen, sometimes certain types of fish will become slow and sluggish in the catch bucket, and it does something to the taste of the meat. Fishermen discovered that, by throwing in a catfish into the bucket with the other fish, kept those lazy fish moving, and the meat stayed "fresh tasting". The catfish kept them "lively".

So, there's the connection. Still a bottom feeder either way.
