Thanks for the mention!  Personally I don't think that seeing a deck of naughty playing cards at a young age is enough to make someone kinky. Didn't almost all of us have some kind of exposure like that? I remember sneaking looks at my dad's Playboy magazines when my parents were out of the house. Despite that, I was very much of a late bloomer (probably mostly because I was nerdy). I did some catching up in my 20's, then went into a relationship that was VERY vanilla. It was only when I was a couple of years out of that relationship, almost 50, that I became interested in bdsm and started exploring that. But I know of other kinky people who claim they always knew they were, from a very young age. Like, they would get turned on by the cartoons where Snidely Whiplash ties up sweet Nell on on the railroad tracks.

Yeah... I took a self deprecating, facetious slant with my opinion on the influence of that deck of cards.... But heck, I still remeber them... lol 😱 That's quite a gap... to have waited till you were 50. Who knows if it would have been sooner, if you'd have had an opportunity. Perhaps that's what that Psychology Today article was all about - "exposure to...", and how we react to that exposure. Those cards didn't an affect me. I didn't have sex till I was 17... but there was that older girl, living next door. Now SHE was a bad influence on me... lol 😁 The more I learn about kink things, the more interested I become in them. But interest and doing something about it , are two different things. For some people, certain things will always stay in the realm of fantasy and they have no interest in enacting them in person. I can think of a couple porn categories that are like that for me  On the other hand, if you did want to take some baby steps toward action, I feel confident that if you created a profile on Fetlife you would find a ton of events and special interest groups in your vicinity.
