The Lion sleeps tonight , Elephant laughs.
The Lion sleeps tonight , Elephant laughs. Suspected Rhino poacher killed by an Elephant and then eaten by Lions Story by Rahul Kalvapalle for the National Online Global News. Out of South Africa: South African Authorities say they have recovered the remains of a suspected Rhino poacher who was believed to have been killed by an Elephant before his body was devoured by Lions. The victims family say they were informed of his death by fellow members of a poaching gang who entered Kruger National Park in Northeastern Africa on Tuesday .South African Parks spokes person said in a release the family then called State Police who sent a search party to the area where four other members of the poaching gang were arrested. The mans remains were found on Thursday but not before a pride of Lions got to the mans remains. All indications suggest that a pride of Lions had devoured most of the remains, leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants. The head of the Kruger National Park said in a press release that he expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased suspected poacher saying that his death was only a grim reminder of the dangers of illegal entry into a Park ".Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise and it holds many dangers and this incident is proof of that ," said Park managing executive , Glenn Phillips., " It is very sad to see the daughters of the deceased mourning the loss of their Father, and worse still only being able to recover little of his remains." The four arrested individuals will appear in court in due time . South Africa is believed to have around 80% of the worlds population of over 20,000 Rhino , making it the epicenter of the global poaching crisis....Poachers killed 769 Rhinos in 2018 ..Rhinos were targeted by poachers for their horns which fetch big money from the black markets like Vietnam where they are prized for their purported ability to cure a variety of health issues ..There has been no substancial proof to actually make the claim but the tradition has been around for a very long time and people have a mindset and believe these traditions really work.Rhino horn is also bought and consumed as a symbol of wealth..Rhino horn has the same elemants as human fingernails. There is an International ban on the trade of Rhino horn in place but that does not stop poachers from entering Parks or Protected areas where Rhino is abundant.. |

Interestingly lions tend to enjoy the bowels and torso rather than the limbs. Probably find that the hyenas and vultures also enjoyed the feast if all they found was a skull and pants. The animals tend to leave the bush quite clean and tidy. And yes, you go looking to poach, there is always a chance you might just not come back. Well done the the wildlife team
