The medium is the massage

From time to time, I like to check out what Chennai has to offer in terms of massage parlours and services.

In the initial days, I used to ask friends whether they knew of such places but ever since the Deccan Chronicle newspaper launched in the city, I found it to be a veritable treasure-trove of such classifieds. They're discreetly buried away under the rather innocuous heading 'Health' or 'Health Club'.

For the record, The Hindu does carry such ads too under a similar heading but perhaps as a matter of editorial policy they ask their advertisers to provide full addresses. That tends to restrict things a bit, considering that so many of the women (and men) who provide such services don't have a place of their own and offer their services at a customer's home. I don't read The Times of India, so am not in a position to tell you whether the paper carries such classifieds.

I've had a number of experiences over the years and they've been a mixed bag. A couple of things I've discovered over the years: One, almost without exception these women claim to be good at massage but few (if any!) have any idea of what it takes to be a skilled masseuse. Two, there is a peculiar patois for those operating in the industry which takes a while to decipher as the examples I'm about to write about will reveal.

For starters, 'full body massage' typically means a massage where you get to take off your clothes and the woman does her job. There is a variant 'head to toe massage' which may or may not indicate that you need to be undressed - it depends upon the establishment and the woman who's performing the service!

Then, there is 'relaxation massage' which means that she'll jack you off at the end of the session. This is important, because there are several places such as beauty parlours which go strictly by the book. You'll be clad in a sort of plasticky underwear and the lady will not jack you off and indeed will take offence if you ask.

If you call up one of the numbers listed, you can expect to listen to a script which runs pretty much as follows. 'Good morning, Sir. Full body massage, Sir. Relaxation massage, Sir. 45 minutes, Rs. 1,500 Sir with one female. One and a half hours, Rs. 3,000 Sir with two females. Good-looking and co-operative females, Sir'.

The word 'co-operative' again has shades of meaning. It usually means that the woman will be willing to be massage you topless or in some cases, undress completely provided the price is right! I have seen that in most cases, the women are usually from deprived families dependent upon using their charms to make a living and are therefore quite eager to go that extra mile.

If you expect to have sex with the woman, there is another phrase that you need to keep in mind and that is 'full service'. This means, the woman is willing to have sex with you provided the price is right. If you're going to visit the establishment, it's fairly unlikely that they'll offer 'full service' since there is always a fear of cops bursting through the doors anytime and catching you with your pants down! So, it's a good idea to check first.

More about some of the enjoyable experiences I've had in another post!

I have two heads. But I can never be sure which one makes more sense.
