Why the Caged Bird Sings? Because She Can.

I'm in my tub right now. Candles, Seagrams and Sprite, and Adele on the mp3. And I got to thinking...

I wish I could sing.

Obviously I am capable of song- my vocal chords are healthy, as my will tell you. But I'm as tone deaf as my tub...my will attest to that as well. The acoustics in my bathroom allow me the courtesy of making me sound like Aretha Franklin. But I know better. California slate...patronizing bastards.

Keep in mind that my deficiency doesn't prevent me from singing karaoke any chance I get. Perhaps I hope that enough booze will ease my diaphragm and morph me into Adele, or someone like her (get the joke, there?). Or maybe I just hope my audience has imbibed themselves into a state of bland resignation. Either way, once you experience it, you aren't likely to forget it anytime soon. Sort of like bad anal sex or a visit to the DMV.

I always have a vision of my man in the audience as I sing to him. For THAT GUY, I would sing "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison. His eyes locked on mine as he tries in vain not to look embarrassed. Afterward, when he rushes us out of the bar, I'll pretend it's because he's so taken with the depth of my emotion that he can't wait to get me home and remove the muzzle. Or maybe the muzzle stays on...not sure. It's a good thing he likes my ass. Maybe I should turn around when i sing it, lol.

Anyway, Good Readers....What talent do you wish you had? Ever explored it further with lessons?

Would you clap if I sang to you? Just a little Mariah Carey...I can hit the high notes- I promise . (Not really).

When it comes to sex, I need a STRONG connection. Otherwise, the page just keeps buffering and takes FOREVER to load...

I can't sing, I was the bass player without a mic! I was in the church choir until my voice broke aged 11 or 12?

gottaring replies on 12/25/2011 7:09 pm:
Alas, I can't even blame puberty for my crappy voice, lol. I always sounded terrible!

I used to be able to sing, better than I can now... had some formal training when I was young and even spent some time singing/acting in a couple of local theatre troups - musicals and such. My god, that was a different me in a different life *sigh*. In my case though, talents are wasted in youth - I'm artistic (started selling my work when I was 12), but I hardly do a thing with it now... starving artist doesn't couple well with family life in suburbia and "real life" wins out.

I dance whenever I can - just give me an excuse! I don't know if I'm any good, but I do it because I love to move and can't sit still when I hear music. Guess it helps that I really don't care what I look like when I'm doing it. I don't need to drink to get up in front of a crowd and sing or dance, lol

I wish I could play an instrument - I always sucked at band... right now I desperately want to learn to play base guitar (I think Santa *might* be working on that ).

Karaoke nights with you would be a blast I think! Enjoy your bathroom cameos and I hope you belt it out at the top of your lungs . Merry Christmas Gottaring!

My 6 year old craves guitar lessons! We're starting her soon- she's already started piano. I certainly hope she maintains that Love for it after she actually has to pay attention to an instructor. Right now, she takes her acoustic guitar and strums and makes up songs, lol.

Anytime you're in my neck of the woods, Babe, I promise you a night of karaoke and hot men. Or at least I promise karaoke, lol .

Nice post. I've been bathing it up lately. Perfect place to escape and destress. Also a perfect place to belt out a passionate lyric when no one is home.

I'm back in the tub, Kat, lol. It's my haven . Right now I have Dire Straits on the iPod, "So Far Away"...and a cold beer within arms reach. I'm getting highlights of the Packer game on the iPad- we're gonna win, so I'm not too worried .

The way I see it, you can only be a slave to so many masters, and since I'm already smart, funny, sexy as hell, gifted in the arts of sexual pleasure, and disgustingly humble, I'm not aware of how I could ever be improved.

gottaring replies on 12/24/2011 9:18 am:
Well, you could be REAL, that'd be a good start. Right now you're as tangible as the guy on the cover of a Harlequin Romance novel.

My Dad bought a karaoke machine for his resort and I almost died laughing until I saw the results. People buy too much liquor on karaoke night.

gottaring replies on 12/25/2011 7:05 pm:
You dad is a smart man, lol. Never underestimate the necessity for liquid courage when there's a microphone around!

I can sing, studied it for 7 years. I would have majored in music in college if not for one thing: I can't play the piano worth a damn and that was a requirement for all the programs I wanted to apply to.

But what can't I do? I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. My mother can draw beautifully. The rest of my family can draw about average. Me? Apparently due to some fine motor skill somethingorother I can't draw and my penmanship is deplorable.

Oh well, I guess I can't be perfect.

I wrote that in a post one day -

I can't sing, that's why I do it !!

(hhha haa hahha funny shit)

You check out my video?? Peep it out - you'll like it

Yep, I posted it here on Gay Threesome Dating - cuz that's what I do

Anyway - I love playing the drums - I wish I was Dennis Chambers

I wish I could sing too. When I was younger, I spent hours fantasizing that I was singing Stevie Nicks and my guy was wowed. What a goofball, huh?

Elevate me...

gottaring replies on 12/23/2011 9:46 pm:
Stevie Nicks was my hero for SO long! I Love vintage Fleetwood Mac, lol! She was eventually replaced by Annie Lennox, but I always have a place for her on my iPod!

I too wish I was better with my hands, which would also make me more artistic, something else I wish I was. Woodworking, welding, sculpture, painting -- I'd Love to be able to do those things. Instead I'm cursed with this super-intelligent Braniac mind and a tripod penis.

Hey if you had the guts to get up and sing in front of me sure I'd clap. I can't hold a tone to save my life, so I'm not going to knock most peoples singing. As long as they aren't getting paid for it.

Let's see talents I wish I had. I wish I had some artistic talent. And of course I wish I had a talent for things like flirtation. This might be reaching a little. But I hope I'm good at giving massages, since I really do enjoy giving them, but I don't get to practice much and have not been formally trained.

gottaring replies on 12/23/2011 9:43 pm:
Allow me to volunteer to evaluate your prowess at massage

See? THAT'S flirting, lol. It's easy when you have a handsome chap to do it with .

I sing. Not as well as I used to pre-sinus surgery in 2002. There's a friends only video of me singing on here

I also play the piano. And I act.

As for talents I wish I had? I wish I was more artistic. I wish I could dance. Then I could be a triple threat

I do not dance well. And won't even attempt unless I'm drinking

Free your mind. Open your heart. Move a mountain. An Open Book...

gottaring replies on 12/23/2011 9:42 pm:
Dancing, I can do. Fairly well, I think. Unless its the booze talking...

Singing, no. Acting? I have a mother-in-law, don't I? I oughta get an Oscar!

talents, talents who has talents. i dont know if i miss any talent. i wish i was better with wood, but that is more mindset than talent. i dont know. i will settle for being a better person not more talented. i would attend one of your bathroom performances though.
