Libido The word libido is quite an interesting word isn't it? The text book meaning goes... The psychic and emotional energy associated with instinctual biological drives i.e. the sexual drive that all mammals, especially us humans have. I am not particularly sure that it is only the 'men' who have massive sexual drives or overdrives. I think women equally have it as well, but the linkages with various other emotions are limited for the men, whereas for women it is linked with so many emotions that one can't actually find enough words to express them all. Not at least the way I see it. I hail from the land of the Kamasutra. It is a country of a 1 billion humans, yet even today it is a country that hides its sexuality. Why, I still cannot fathom. Sex education is considered a touchy subject. Sex is a fact of life. Some are extremely comfortable with what it represents and what it means to have it, whereas most are made to feel doubly guilty about it. And I keep reading or hearing of so many instances where the frustration builds up into a cataclysmic moment... be it within the family or outside, the resultant act could be classified right from consensual sex to to ! My views may be more liberal than conservative, but with a certain point of reason. If we were to be a lot more open about how we feel and work towards a mutually satisfactory expression, wouldn't it be much better than keeping it bottled in, where a trigger (possibly not even considered such, by normal standards) would set off the chain of sequences leading to (in most cases) a not so desired end. Grow up is all I have to say to all those neo-conservatives out there! And stop being the moral police, for enforcement would not work where discussion could. |
